A multi-cultural Londoner of Greek and German descent, Clara E Seeger (PhD, MAC AKC) is passionate about facilitating human flourishing through cultivating the mind by way of meditation, mindfulness, applied neuroscience and emotional intelligence.
As an ILM Accredited coach, corporate facilitator, speaker and author, Clara works with international companies and individuals across many sectors and countries, delivering mindfulness interventions, neuroscience-based leadership development, executive coaching, coach training, as well as meditation-based programmes to balance the mind for optimal mental health and to help clients experience authentic wellbeing above and beyond a narrow focus on leadership performance and effectiveness.
Academic Background and Approach
Through her strong academic background in both the humanities and neuroscience (PhD in German and Philosophy, MA, M.Phil in European Literature and MSc in Neuroscience and Mindfulness) Clara brings an intellectual rigour to her programmes which draw equally on insights from modern neuroscience as well as ancient wisdom traditions and apply them to the modern workplace and reality.
Clara's Journey
Following her academic training and teaching in Higher Education, Clara worked in Investment Banking before retraining as a coach in order to experience and enable others to enjoy greater meaning in what they do.
Through her specialisation in neuroscience she was introduced to mindfulness and its immense scientific evidence base, demonstrating its numerous salutary effects on attention, cognitive flexibility, improved focus and performance, stress reduction, reduced chance of relapse into depression, decision-making and enhanced wellbeing and has taken up a regular personal practice to test these benefits for herself.
This has been utterly transformative and has sparked an ever-growing interest in the ancient origins of this secular technology.
Mindfulness & Meditation Experience and Application
In addition to her deepening daily practice and her M.Sc in Neuroscience and Mindfulness, Clara has completed numerous mindfulness and meditation workshops, teachings and retreats, both online and in person, including MBSR, MBCT, Mindful Self-Compassion, Shamatha, Vipashyana, Dzogchen, the Four Applications of Mindfulness, the Seven-Point Mind Training, and many others, as well as a two-year programme on the Foundations of Buddhist Thought with the Jamyang Centre in London.
She practises and studies under the guidance of Buddhist scholar, scientist and meditation teacher Dr Alan Wallace, himself a great unifier of the Western scientific and Eastern contemplative approaches.
Clara has developed her own coaching methodology, which integrates insights from ancient wisdom traditions, mindfulness, as well as modern neuroscience in a holistic way and is passionate about introducing the benefits and neuroscience of mindfulness to the corporate world, both theoretically and practically.
